Some of the most meaningful moments with God don't happen during the extraordinary moments of life.

They happen on an ordinary Tuesday morning.

They happen while we're standing in the kitchen making dinner, getting ready for the day, driving to work, folding laundry, sitting down with our Bible, or walking through another busy week.

And I think sometimes we forget just how much of our lives are made up of these seemingly ordinary moments.

God doesn't only meet us in church on Sunday morning or during a perfectly quiet Bible study. He is present in the everyday places of our lives, too.

That's one of the reasons I love finding simple ways to keep Scripture in front of me.

What Does It Mean to Hide God's Word in Your Heart?

Psalm 119:11 says:

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Hiding God's Word in our hearts is so much more than simply owning a Bible or knowing a handful of verses.

It means allowing His Word to become part of us.

We read it.

We study it.

We memorize it.

We pray through it.

We return to it when we need wisdom, encouragement, correction, comfort, or direction.

Over time, the truth we've repeatedly placed before our eyes begins to settle deeply into our hearts.

Then, when fear comes, we remember what God has said.

When we don't know what to do, we have truth to guide us.

When we're discouraged, we can recall His promises.

And when the world around us is constantly competing for our attention, Scripture reminds us where to fix our eyes again.

Bringing Scripture Into Your Everyday Life

Deuteronomy 6 gives us such a beautiful picture of what it looks like for God's Word to become part of everyday life.

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” — Deuteronomy 6:6–7 NKJV

I love this passage because God's Word wasn't meant to be separated from ordinary life.

It was to be talked about in the home.

While walking.

At bedtime.

In the morning.

In other words, Scripture was meant to travel with God's people throughout their day.

We can still intentionally create those reminders today.

Write a Bible verse on a card and place it beside your coffee maker.

Keep your Bible somewhere you'll actually see and reach for it.

Put Scripture where your family gathers.

Write verses in a notebook.

Listen to Scripture while you're getting ready.

Choose meaningful Christian home decor and Scripture gifts that point your thoughts back to biblical truth.

The item itself isn't where the power is. God's Word is.

But something as simple as seeing a verse while we're rushing through the morning can remind us to stop for a moment and remember what is true.

Faith in the Kitchen

The kitchen is one of those everyday places where so much life happens.

Meals are prepared. Conversations happen. People gather. Children grow up. Friends sit around tables. Prayers are prayed.

Even serving our families in these seemingly ordinary ways can be done for the glory of God.

Colossians 3:23 reminds us:

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” — Colossians 3:23 NKJV

Whatever you do.

That includes the everyday things no one else may notice.

Not every reminder of Scripture has to be large.

Imagine taking off your wedding ring at night and seeing Scripture.

Those few seconds matter.

Romans 12:2 tells us:

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...” — Romans 12:2 NKJV

Renewing our minds requires truth.

And in a world where we are surrounded by messages competing for our attention, intentionally surrounding ourselves with God's Word can help redirect our thoughts toward Him.

There Is Still Nothing Like Opening Your Bible

As much as I love beautiful Scripture products, there is no substitute for actually opening the Bible and reading God's Word for ourselves.

Second Timothy 3:16–17 tells us:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness...”

The Bible isn't simply an inspirational book.

It is God's Word.

That's why Bibles will always be one of my favorite things we carry at The Scripture Store.

A Christ-centered home doesn't have to look perfect.

It doesn't require expensive decor.

And filling a house with Scripture products isn't what makes a home Christian.

Jesus does.

But we can be intentional about what we allow to fill our homes and influence our hearts.

Maybe that means keeping an open Bible on the table.

Maybe it's Scripture displayed near the front door.

Maybe it's praying together before dinner.

Maybe it's a Christian mug that reminds you of a favorite verse every morning.

Maybe it's an apron, a Scripture trinket tray, a notebook filled with prayers, or a Bible sitting beside your favorite chair.

The purpose isn't simply decorating our homes with words about God.

The purpose is allowing those words to remind us to turn our hearts toward Him.

A Simple Challenge for This Week

Choose one Scripture this week and intentionally place it somewhere you'll see it every day.

Read it every morning.

Say it aloud.

Write it down.

Pray through it.

And begin memorizing it.

At the end of the week, see how much of it you can recite without looking.

That's how Scripture begins moving from the page into our hearts.

One verse at a time.

One ordinary day at a time.
