There is something about the end of August that makes me start thinking about Fall.

Even when the temperatures outside are still saying otherwise. 

I start thinking about crisp apples, cinnamon, slower evenings at home, something warm to drink, and all of the little things that make a new season feel special.

But changing seasons also make me think about how much our lives change.

Some seasons are filled with answered prayers and exciting new beginnings.

Others involve waiting, uncertainty, disappointment, or simply trying to figure out what God is doing.

And sometimes we aren't in a particularly dramatic season at all. We're just living ordinary life. Going to work. Taking care of our families. Making dinner. Running errands. Opening our Bibles when we can and asking the Lord to meet us right where we are.

Whatever this season looks like for you, there is one truth I hope you'll carry into Fall:

Our seasons change, but our God does not.

There Is a Season for Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season and an appointed time for everything under heaven.

I love that reminder because it tells us something important.

Seasons are part of life.

We won't remain in every season forever.

There will be times of planting and times of gathering. Times of laughter and times of sorrow. Times when we clearly see what God is doing and other times when we simply have to trust Him.

The temptation is to constantly look ahead.

When this changes, I'll be happy.

When that prayer is answered, I'll have peace.

When life settles down, I'll spend more time with God.

But what if instead we began asking:

Lord, what are You teaching me right here?

Because God isn't only present in the season we're waiting for.

He's present in this one.

The Same Jesus in Every Season

Hebrews 13:8 gives us one of the simplest and most comforting truths in Scripture:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

That wording is confirmed in the NKJV.

Everything around us can change.

Plans change.

Relationships change.

Circumstances change.

Our homes change.

Our schedules change.

We change.

Jesus does not.

The One who was faithful yesterday is still faithful today.

And He will still be faithful tomorrow.

That does not mean every season will be easy. The Bible never promises that.

It means that whatever the season holds, we do not walk into it without Him.

So maybe the beginning of Fall doesn't need to be about creating the perfect routine or completely reinventing ourselves.

Maybe it can simply be an invitation to draw a little closer to Jesus.

Bring God's Word Into the Ordinary Parts of Home

One thing I love about Fall is how naturally it turns our attention toward home.

We cook a little more.

Gather around the table.

Spend more evenings inside.

Pull out our favorite mugs.

Open the windows when the weather finally cooperates.

And I think our homes can become such beautiful places to continually turn our hearts back toward God.

In Deuteronomy 6, God instructed His people to keep His words in their hearts and to speak of them throughout the ordinary rhythms of home and daily life.

That passage isn't really about decorating our homes with Bible verses.

It's much deeper than that.

It's about making God's truth part of everyday life.

Talking about Him.

Teaching His Word.

Remembering what He has said.

Returning to Scripture again and again.

And that's part of the heart behind The Scripture Store.

Beautiful Christian products aren't a substitute for knowing God's Word.

They should point us back to it.

A verse beside the kitchen sink can remind you of truth while you're doing dishes.

A Bible sitting beside your favorite chair can encourage you to open it.

A notebook can become a place to write prayers and Scripture.

A small reminder beside your bed can turn your thoughts toward Jesus before the day even begins.

The item isn't where the power is.

The Word of God is.

A Few New Things We're Loving at TSS

Bibles will always hold such a special place in our store.

There is nothing quite like choosing a Bible you are excited to open, study, underline, write in, and return to year after year.

And while I absolutely love a beautiful Bible cover, the real treasure will always be what is inside.

My prayer is never simply that someone owns a beautiful Bible.

It's that the pages eventually become familiar.

Marked.

Underlined.

Prayed through.

Loved.

New Christian Kitchen Aprons

We also have new Christian kitchen aprons coming into this Fall season.

I love these because the kitchen is such an ordinary place where so much meaningful life happens.

Meals are made.

Families gather.

Friends linger around the counter.

Children grow up around the table.

There is something special about bringing gentle reminders of faith into those everyday moments.

Sometimes ministry looks like teaching a Bible study.

And sometimes it looks like making dinner for the people God has placed in your home.

Both can be done with a heart that honors Him.

New Scripture Trinket Trays

Our new Scripture trinket trays are another sweet little way to keep biblical truth close.

Place one beside the bed, on a dresser, at your bathroom sink, or anywhere you keep jewelry and small everyday things.

I love the thought of reaching for something as simple as a ring or pair of earrings and being reminded of God's Word before walking into the day.

They also make thoughtful Christian gifts when you want to encourage someone with something meaningful and useful.

Don't Just Display Scripture. Hide It in Your Heart.

Psalm 119:11 says:

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”

I checked that exact NKJV wording against both Bible Gateway and Bible Hub.

That is ultimately what we want.

Not simply Scripture on the wall.

Not simply Scripture on something we wear.

Not simply a beautiful Bible on the coffee table.

God's Word hidden in our hearts.

Because that's where we need it when life changes.

When fear creeps in.

When we're discouraged.

When we're tempted.

When we're waiting.

When we don't know what to do next.

We want to know God's Word well enough that truth comes back to mind when we need it.

A Simple Fall Scripture Challenge

As we head toward September, choose one verse for this new season.

Don't make it complicated.

Write it on a small card.

Put it beside your coffee maker.

Tape it inside your bathroom cabinet.

Write it in your planner or notebook.

Read it every morning.

Say it out loud.

Pray through it.

By the end of September, see if you can say it from memory.

One verse may not feel like much.

But hiding God's Word in our hearts happens one verse at a time.

One day at a time.

From Ashley's Kitchen: Cinnamon Apple Yogurt Dip 

We can't talk about Fall without putting something with apples and cinnamon in here.

This is simple, creamy and takes just a few minutes to make.

Ingredients

• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter or almond butter
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed, optional
• A small pinch of sea salt
• Fresh apples, sliced

Directions

Add the Greek yogurt, peanut butter or almond butter, vanilla, cinnamon and sea salt to a bowl.

Stir until everything is completely combined and creamy.

If you're using chia seeds or ground flaxseed, stir them in last.

Taste the dip and add a little more cinnamon if you'd like.

Slice your favorite crisp apples and serve alongside the dip.

That's it!

It makes an easy Fall afternoon snack, something simple to put out for Bible study, or a fun addition when friends or family stop by.

Heading Into Fall With Faith

As we move into this next season, I hope you'll resist the pressure to make everything perfect.

You don't need the perfect Fall home.

You don't need the perfect Bible study routine.

You don't need to have the next few months figured out.

You simply need to keep coming back to the One who never changes.

Open His Word.

Talk to Him.

Remember what He's already brought you through.

Pay attention to the blessings that are sitting right in front of you.

And trust Him with whatever comes next.

The season may be changing.

Our God is still faithful.
